Jerry Dale Adkerson was born March 07, 1933 in Retrop, Oklahoma to Annie (Atkinson) and Charley Alexander Adkerson. He passed away July 17, 2018 at Mangum, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 10 days.
Jerry was raised in the Retrop community where he graduated from high school in 1951. He began working for his father on the farm before entering the United States Army where he served for the next two years. After his discharge he graduated from Barber school. He barbered in Carter, Sayre, Duncan and Mangum before his marriage to Joyce Ann Leckie on April 10, 1964 in Mangum, Oklahoma. They lived in Mangum before moving to Enid, Oklahoma and later to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he studied Horology (watch repair) while barbering. They returned to Mangum where he worked for Slover Jewelry. He later established Adkerson Jewelry in 1977 and remained there until his retirement in 2001.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Rholf Adkerson.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann, 2 sons, Dale Adkerson and wife, Anita, Guthrie, OK, John Adkerson and wife, Julie, Newalla, OK, 1 sister, Charlene Miller and husband, Jim, Tuttle, OK, 1 Brother, Frank Adkerson, San Bernardino, CA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 1:00 PM in the Mangum Church of Christ with Todd McRay and David Stewart officiating.
