Coye Adkerson was born December 10, 1947 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Virdia Mae and Barney McCoy Adkerson. He lost his 2 year earthly battle with cancer on October 31, 2017 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 21 days.
Coye was raised in the Carter, Oklahoma area where he attended elementary school. In the 7th grade he moved with his family to Elk City where he graduated from high school in 1966. After graduation, he spent the next 5 years working overseas in the oil field and was in 7 different countries. He was married to Deborah Jane (Caughron) Adkerson at Lake Texoma on August 5, 1977. After their marriage Coye began his 40 year career as a drilling consultant in Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Throughout this time Coye worked for Inexco, Louisiana Land Exploration, Apache and Cimerex before his retirement in March of 2015. Coye loved his career in the oil field where he met and made many dear friends. He also enjoyed going fishing especially with his family, hunting, boating, going to car races and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and 1 brother, Herman Adkerson.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home; "Daddy's Little Girl", Joni RayLynn Adkerson Garrison, Oklahoma City, OK; "The Golden Egg", Caleb Dee Adkerson Garrison, Oklahoma City, OK; 1 son-in-law, Marty Garrison, Tecumseh, OK; his mother, Virdia Mae Adkerson, Clinton, OK; 1 sister, Betty Todd, Carter, OK; 1 brother, Joe Adkerson and wife, Sharon, Elk City, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and one good buddy, Nila Fulton.
