Tommie (Tom) Glen Acord was born on August 28, 1950, at the Mileham Clinic and Hospital in Chandler, Oklahoma, the fourth of the six children of Adis Leon and Emma Louise Edmondson Acord. Tom passed away on December 4, 2024, at his home southeast of Chandler at the age of 74 years and three months.
Tom was raised in the Morning Star Community southeast of Chandler. He received his early education at Morning Star School, and then attended Davenport Public Schools, graduating from Davenport High School in 1968. He then briefly attended Oklahoma State University before joining the United States Army. After serving a combat tour in Vietnam and being honorably discharged, Tom returned to Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology.
Tom married Deborah (Debbie) Jones on August 18,1983, in Paden, Oklahoma. God blessed this union with two children: their daughter, Candace, and their son, Jeremy. Later, Tom and Debbie completed their family by adopting three daughters: Michelle, Heather, and Andrea.
For many years, Tom worked in his family’s trucking business. For the last several years, he served as the manager of T & J Marketing’s propane storage facility near Chandler.
Tom enjoyed hunting, piloting small aircraft, traveling, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Chandler and a faithful follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife: Deborah (Debbie) Acord; Five children Candace Acord; Jeremy Acord & wife Mayra; Michelle Albrecht; Heather Albrecht; Andrea McIntyre & husband, Michael; four Brothers: Ray Acord & wife, Pat; John Acord & wife, Jeanie; Joe Acord & wife, Cindy; two Sisters: Sue Shelton & husband, Bill; Lou Ann Sukovaty & husband, Jerry; One Granddaughter: Sophie Acord; extended family members and many friends.
Services for Tom will be at 1:30pm, Monday, December 9, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Chandler with Pastor Rick Blackwell officiating.
