September 28, 1956 - June 3, 2016

Phillip Charles Abernathy passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at his residence in Ponca City. He was 59 years old.

 Phillip was born on September 28, 1956 in Miami, OK to Phillip Wayne Abernathy and Carol Sue (Baker) Abernathy. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1974 and later, attended York Tech in South Carolina. On February 14, 1980, Phillip married Sharon Lynn Stevens at Cassiopeia's in Ponca City. Throughout his life, he worked for the Conoco Oil Refinery in Ponca City.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Ponca City, mother, Carol Abernathy of Commerce, OK, daughter, Shastina Strange and son-in-law, Jeff of Ponca City, son, Robert Abernathy and daughter-in-law, Angel of Ponca City, son, Phillip Shane Abernathy and daughter-in-law, Melissa of Smyrna, GA, sister, Cindy Vanover and brother-in-law, Larry of Commerce, OK, sister, Susan McComb and brother-in-law, Greg of Morris, OK, granddaughters, Bailey Brandt and Shia Strange of Ponca City, and grandsons, Andy, Trey, and Maverick Abernathy of Ponca City.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Wayne Abernathy and his brother, Patrick Abernathy.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City, OK and will be officiated by Steve Bilyeu. Phillip will be available for viewing on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Honorary casketbearers are Ron Hess, Lee Clark, Tony Delodge, Bill Gillogley, Greg Parson, Casey Turner, Justin Johnson, and Francis LeClair.
