Evelyn Williams, 81, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Dan Thimell officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 9:00am to 8:00pm with family greeting friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hayden Mowery, Sheldon Mowery, Gavin Mowery, Marvin Rupp, Wayne Pagel, and David Prince.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Art Rupp.

Evelyn leaves behind a family she dearly loved that includes her husband, Melvin Williams of Perry; two children, Len Williams of Bristow and Kathy Mowery of Brock, TX; three grandchildren, Hayden Mowery, Gavin Mowery, and Sheldon Mowery all of Brock, TX; four siblings, Robert Rupp and wife, Dorothy of Perry; Irene Pagel of Perry, Alice Kopp and husband, Fred of Perry; one sister-in-law Charlotte Rupp of Perry.

Evelyn was born February 22, 1935 in Noble County to Lee & Emillie (Wierzba) Rupp. She grew up in the Perry area and attended Sumner Public Schools. She graduated from Sumner in May 1953. Soon after graduation she and Melvin went to Las Cruces, NM and were married on June 13, 1953. Family was the light of her life second to her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.

To her family she was known as the “cooker”. She will always be remembered for her good home cooking, and her signature Coconut Cream Pie. She would often be asked “What’s for dinner?”

Evelyn always had a deep love for animals of all kind, but she was partial to cats. They were all fed very well they arrived at Evelyn’s place. She also loved gardening and working in her flower beds.

Evelyn was a very talented lady. She worked as a seamstress/designer for J. Boyer Fabrics in Tulsa. Evelyn designed her own clothes when she was just a little girl. Later she designed and fabricated extravagant evening gowns for Christine Payne and other celebrities.
