Walter Kukuk, 78, died sometime after 4 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 1992, at his home east of Perry, He was a long time community farmer and dozer contractor. He was discovered by his neighbor, Esther Smith, sitting in a chair inside his home. She had gone to check on him shortly before 5 p.m. Friday when she noticed the door of his vehicle was left open during the day. He had last been seen by her late Thursday afternoon.
An investigation was conducted by deputy Jack Branson of the Noble County Sherriff's office, under the law of unattended deaths. Medical Examiner, Dr. Jim Knecht ruled the death was due to natural causes.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev, Myron C, Maltz officiating. Burial follows in the Richburg Cemetery, east of Perry, under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Walter Kukuk was born April 27, 1913 in Bryan Texas to Fred and Anna Kukuk. They moved to the Perry community when he was young. He attended Whipple school and graduated from Perry High School.
He was married to the former Ethel Warner in Perry on July 8, 1934. He had been a farmer and was self employed in the dozer business since 1938. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church where he also served as elder.
He was a member of the Land Improvement Contractors of America and had served on the Noble County Election Board for 19 years. Walter was a member of the board of directors for the Farmers Cooperative Exchange for 15 years and served as secretary for 19 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Skidgel of Perry; a son Jim Kukuk also of Perry; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Ann Piel, Josephine Ehler, Alva Leonard and Lela Buffington, all of Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel , five brothers and one sister.
Memorials were established to benefit the Arthritis Foundation or to the Christ Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
