She was born August 24, 1940, to Frank Crowmeat & Avis (Rice) Murie, in Pawnee, OK. She was a full blood member of the Pawnee Nation from the Chaui & Skidi Bands. She grew up in Pawnee, OK and attended Chilocco Indian School where she met the love of her life Garland Kent Sr. and was married in Boi’dock, OK on June 6th, 1957. She supported her grandchildren by attending gatherings & powwows. She loved the Osage, Tonkawa, Otoe, and Buffalo Run Casinos. She loved to shop; she was very fond of QVC. Her favorite show was Days of Our Lives and all things Disney. She was an avid fan of OU football, Cardinal baseball & the Kansas City Chiefs. Her favorite singer was Elvis & she was very fond of gospel music and tribal hymns. She was a foodie, enjoyed cooking and eating liver & onions at JW Cobbs every Tuesday evening.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Frank Crowmeat & Avis (Rice) Murie, sons; Charlie Murray & Tyler Kent, sister; Virginia Primeaux, brothers; Johnny, Thomas, Kenneth and Lawrence Murie
Lucy leaves behind her husband of 67 years Garland Kent Sr., brother Leo Murie, sister Nora Lou, sister-in-law Docas Williams, children; Garland Jr. & Kathie Kent, Jayne Kent & Russ Schatz, Thomas Kent & Rachel Cole, Jennifer Sentel, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Kent, grandchildren; Francis (Curtis) Primeaux, Troyce (Angel) Shaw, Dena (Nathan) Reveles, William (Elaine) Shaw, Trevor (Amanda) Kent, Jeffrey Lynch, Jaelin Kent, Samuel Hinman, Laura Ferrill, Leighan Sentel, great-grandchildren; Nadia Kent, Lexia Kent, Alec Kent, Ezekiel Lynch, Daniel & Tyson Tslee, Ricky Hinman, Julie Shaw, Angela Kent, and numerous nieces & nephews as well as her “adopted children”, she loved all the children.
No child was a stranger to her, she loved them all and called them hers.
Pallbearers are Curtis Primeaux Jr., G. Russ Schatz, Jeffrey Lynch Jr., Trevor Vaughn Kent, William Shaw Jr. and Alec Lee Kent. Lucy will lie in state at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cultural Center.
A funeral feast will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at noon and services to follow at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cultural Center. Followed by the burial at the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery.
