Earlene Ely,
resident of Red Rock, passed Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Enid. She was 79
years of age. Earlene was born October 31, 1933 in rural Perry,
Oklahoma, the daughter of Charlie Pettit and Esther Belle Burgess. She
attended school in rural Perry. She was married to Clayton Lewis Ely.
She was employed some 20 plus years as a cook for the Otoe Tribal
Senior’s Center. Her enjoyments included telling stories, car rides,
crossword puzzles, traveling, visiting with family and friends and
earlier years, fishing.
She is survived by
six children, Debra Jefferson and husband Timothy, of Pawnee, Lewis
(Bernard) Ely of Muskogee, Lois Davis and husband Glen, of Durant,
GayNell Mead and husband Steve, of Guthrie, Keith Ely of Red Rock and
Andrea Davis and husband Randy, of Ardmore; one sister, Linda Pettit of
Perry; 10 grandchildren, Calvin Wade McBlair and wife Chasta, Joshua
Caleb McBlair and wife Gina, Clinton Lewis Jefferson and wife Mayla,
April Marie Jefferson and husband Stacey, Travis Wayne Davis and wife
Beth, Vernon Lee Davis and wife Brooke, Clayton Edmund Davis, Micheal
Allen Bible and wife Traci, William Don Bible and wife Storm’in, Derek
Wayne Davis; 27 great grandchildren, Cassandra Reane, Caleb Wade, Kelsey
Lynn, Elizabeth Pearl, Carly Rachel Lynn, Madilyn Christine, Jayden
Ester Nicole, Amber Marie, Alyssa K., Wilhelimina, Pamela Anna Marie,
Sierra Cheyanne, Natalie Cianne, Hailey Brianna, Dillon Luke, Evan Lee,
Makayla DeAnn, Makenzie ReAnn, Makyera CeAnna, Makalli Renee, Makinli
Jenee, Brenli D’Neele, William Nathanial and Raiden Lewis.; numerous
nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, Charlie and Esther Pettit; her husband, Clayton
Lewis Ely; one daughter, Pamela Bible; one grandson, Dustin Lewis; two
sisters, Charlotte Estes and Ada Schwandt.
Prayer services
will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Otoe-Missouria
Cultural Center. A noon meal will be served on Wednesday, May 22, 2013
at the Cultural Center followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. The
Native American Church will preside over the service. Burial will follow
in the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace
Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers
will be grandchildren, Calvin McBlair, Josh McBlair, Travis Davis,
Vernon Davis, Micheal Bible, Clinton Jefferson, April Jefferson, William
Bible, Clayton Davis and Derek Davis.
