Roy Michael Childs II, a proud member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and member of the Eagle Clan was named “Xra Nayį” by the late Mark Whitehorn, his name translates to Standing Eagle. He was a resident of Red Rock, Oklahoma, and passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the age of 28. He was born on August 30, 1996, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Norman “Willie” Childs and Leticia Nightwalker.

Roy graduated from Frontier School in 2015 and was employed at Ditch Witch in Perry, OK. He was deeply involved in his community and a devoted member of the Otoe-Missouria & Ponca Tribes’ Native American Church. Roy had a passion for singing and drumming, he would frequently attend Native American Church, and sing and drum on the powwow highway. He was a proud member of IronBow Singers.
Roy will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His presence could light up any room, and whether he was offering a helping hand or sharing a joke, Roy’s generous spirit touched the lives of everyone around him. He especially loved coaching and took great pride in mentoring his teams, always encouraging his players with positivity and passion. Roy also had a strong love for refereeing and umpiring, dedicating his time to ensuring fair play and supporting youth sports in any way he could. His dedication both on and off the field reflected his deep care for his community. His legacy of love, leadership, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

On October 19, 2024, Roy married the love of his life, Ana Maria Baeza. They made their home in Red Rock, OK, where they shared their lives with their children and granddaughter.

Roy is survived by his parents and grandparents Roy & Jolavon Childs of Red Rock, OK; John & Etta Vasquez of Red Rock, OK; his wife Ana Maria Baeza and their children, Royal & Reign Childs, Sebastian & Aubreyana Baeza, Arturo, Hector, Adriana, Jesus & Gustavo Rigal; and his beloved granddaughter Annahlee Warrior, all of Red Rock, OK. He is also survived by his brothers Nolan Anthony, Elijah James, Christian Alan, Justice Wayne & Jacob Daniel; sisters Naomi and Nandu Roubedeaux. Nephew Kiyan Childs and Keyan Childs, niece Jocelyn Childs, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family members.

He is preceded in death by his uncles Leon Tohee, George and Michael Childs, and Justin Roubedeaux; paternal great-grandparents George and Virginia Childs, Benny and Wilhelmina Butler; maternal grandfather Lloyd Nightwalker; and great-grandparents James and Ruby Nightwalker, and Richard and Celeste Roubedeaux.

Prayer services will be held Sunday and Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Building near Red Rock, OK. A noon meal will be served on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Cultural Building with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. The Otoe-Missouria Native American Church will preside over the services.

Burial will be in the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery under the direction of the Grace Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Sebastian Baeza, Nolan Childs, Elijah Childs, Christian Childs, Justice Childs, and Jacob Roubedeaux. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Daniel, Chantay Sigwing, Jonathan Rice, MJ Primeaux, Isaiah Grant, RJ Sweezy, Ron Rice II, Clint Bible, and Donnie Grant.
