DIGHTON MARLER FUNERAL HOME
(PERMISSION GRANTED)

Curis Allen Mitchell, 70, went to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Stillwater Medical Center. Allen was born June 25, 1954, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Curtis and Doris Mitchell.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 9am to 1:30pm at Dighton Marler Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00pm, at Dighton Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater.

Interment will follow at Morrison Cemetery in Morrison, Oklahoma

Allen graduated from Morrison High School in 1973. He was an outstanding athlete on the Morrison basketball team. Allen loved his Morrison Community and often patrolled the streets of Morrison. Allen had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He could often be found at his lake hone fishing, hunting, or playing the drums. He absolutely adorned his family, kids and grandkids and many friends.

Allen was a proud Dad, grandfather, uncle and a rother. He loved chasing football games and sporting events. Allen bragged continuously about family genetics in sports. He belonged to the Moose Lodge and loved entertaining his Moose brothers.

Allen was known for his kind and gentile personality. He was known as Turtle Man at his mother’s daycare, always bringing box loads of turtles to the daycare kids.

Allen brought so much love to his sister and her family, Allen was a huge supporter and protector of his loved ones. He loved all his great nephews and niece. Allen frequently picked them up for golf cart rides. Those babies think the world rotated around Uncle Allen. Allen loved big and showed everyone he came in contact with his love and joking personality.

Allen is survived by Sharon Jones, his love of 27 years; son, Chad Allen Mitchell; daughter Tishya Lee Mitchell; six grandkids: Tanner, Chad Jr., Trevor, Nevaeh, Janie and Cynthia; one great grandson, Jett Mitchell; sister, Sherie Renee Walls; and, brother, Douglas Kent Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his Father Curtis Arnold Mitchell; Mother, Doris Louise Mitchell; and niece Stacey Mitchell.

Allen will always be remembered as Yesterday’s Meal on Wheels. Allen dumped travel trailers at Lake Carl Blackwell and appreciated each and everyone he served. He took forever at each campsite because he had a story for everyone. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.

In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family would appreciate donations toward his funeral expenses to Dighton-Marler Funeral Home at www.dightonmarler.com.
