Larry Gene Weinkauf, 74, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at his home in Ponca City.

A cattleman, rancher, horseman, and fisherman, he was known for his passion for agriculture, his curiosity, and his love of cherry pie. 
 

Larry was born Sept. 1, 1947, in Guthrie, OK, to Robert H. and Freda May (Branson) Weinkauf. His early years were spent traveling in the oil patch before the family settled on a farm South of Hayward, OK. 
He attended school in Orlando, OK, graduating in 1965. He earned an Associates Degree in Industrial Arts from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa in 1968. He was a machinist for many years before turning his full attention to raising registered Angus breeding stock.

He married Cathy Miller of Covington in 1966, and they were the parents of two children. They divorced in 2007. 
 
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his long-time companion Beverly Smith of Ponca City; the mother of his children, Cathy Weinkauf; his son, Michael Gene Weinkauf of Orlando, OK; and daughter Janet Ann Box of Blanchard, OK, and her husband Mike. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Juli and her husband Taylor Buxbaum of Jonesboro, Ark., Keri Smith, and Courtney Smith both of Oklahoma City. Extended family includes his brother Bob and Mary Weinkauf of Perry, OK, nieces Bobi Jo Weinkauf, Beki Gibson, and Matt Weinkauf, and the Bigbey and Franke families of the Covington area. 
 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021. at Lucien United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow in McGuire Cemetery, near Lucien.

Visitation wlll be held 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Perry, with family greeting guests from 6 to 8 p.m.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Orlando Volunteer Fire Department in care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 189, Perry, OK, 73077.
