Dean Edward Roberts, of Afton, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the age of 75.
Dean was born May 13, 1941, to William Temple and Edith Esther (Dixon) Roberts, at their home in Helena. He spent his childhood in Garfield County, attended school in Carrier, and graduated from Carrier High School in 1959. Dean married Sue Thompson on June 21, 1963 in Enid. The family lived in Enid a number of years and lived in Sacramento, Calif. from 1973 to 1984, before moving back to Oklahoma. They divorced in 1986. Dean married Andrea "Bird" Simon in 1990, and she passed away in 1997.
Dean worked for Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake for a number of years. He then became self-employed, installing garage doors in Perry, eventually retiring to Afton near Grand Lake. He enjoyed spending time with family and watching OU Sooner football.
Dean is survived by his sons, Wade Edward Roberts and wife, Pam; Todd Arthur Roberts and wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Cody, Kirsten and Austin Roberts, Jarod Naifeh and Natalie Popejoy; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Conner King; and Alex and Olivia Popejoy; brother, Ronnie Joe Roberts and wife, Carolyn; sister, Linda Holt and husband, Marvin; sister-in-law, Jackie Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, William Temple and Edith Esther (Dixon) Roberts; brothers, Billy Harold Roberts and Milton Ray Roberts; and his youngest son, Craig Lee Roberts.
The graveside memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at McGuire Cemetery near Lucien.
