24 Dec 1914

Died at his home in Pawnee, Thursday, December 17, Mr. N. A. Collins.

The funeral was held under the auspice is of the Masonic Lodge, of Morrison, of which Mr. Collins was a member.

N. A. Collins was born in Indiana, in 1833. He enlisted in the Civil War, and after one year of actual service, was wounded and for nine months was an inmate of the hospital at Frederick, Maryland. After the war, he came west and was married in El Dorado, Kansas.

His wife has been dead for some time.

Five children survive him, two sons and three daughters, the sons, N. A. Collins and William Collins, live in Pawnee. The three daughters are May Collins and Mrs. Florence Miller, of Pawnee, and Mrs. Roxy Stoutey, of Lela. Five brothers, Martin of Lela; E. A. of Grand County, Indiana; U. G. Of Dexter; Charles of Bentley, and Sam Collins, of Seattle, Washington.

Mr. Collins was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, and his loss is sincerely felt by the people of the community. Although he was given a longer lease of life, than generally falls the lot of mortals, he will be sincerely mourned. His good deeds will never be forgotten, and the fact that he belonged to the rapidly lessening number of those who tendered their service and lives to the Nation in time of its greatest need, will enshrine his memory in the hearts of true and loyal patriots.
