The funeral for Dorothy Dean Phillips, 77, of Perry, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Bi-ble Baptist Church, 4820 S. Division St., Guth-rie. Robby Robbins, pastor, will officiate. A committal service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in the Grace Hill Memorial Pavilion at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Viewing will be 5-8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 N. 1st St., Guthrie. Arrange-ments are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

She was born March 11, 1932, in Sumner to Walter and Iva Grace Harkins Bowers, and died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Logan Medical Center, Guthrie.
She graduated from Perry High School in 1940.
On Nov. 20, 1949, she married Jesse Phillips in Stillwater. They lived in Perry until moving to Guthrie in 2006.

She was a licensed practical nurse, graduating in 1964 from Blackwell General Hospital’s nursing school. That same year, she and her husband completed the first phase of Green Valley Nursing Home, Perry. She worked at the nursing home and at Perry Memorial Hospital as director of nursing until her retirement.

She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Guthrie, as well as Ameri-can Legion Women’s
Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Jesse; five daughters, Katherine Kay Robbins, Diann Elizabeth Givens and Grace Ann Segura, all of Guthrie, and 1st Lt. Angelia Dawn Phillips-Seal and Ashlee Phillips, both of Salina, Kan.; one son, Stephen Craig Phillips of Guthrie; three sisters, De-lores Curran of Hennessey, Barbara Reed of Irvine, Calif., and Donna Richard-son of Pocasset; one brother, Ronald Bowers of Chandler; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, one brother and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Friends of Guthrie Animals.
