J. E. Rice, age 75 died suddenly last Thursday at his dairy two miles east of the city. He lived in town with his son Orson Rice, the popular mail carrier and each morning and evening went to his farm to do the milking and make his delivery over the city. In the evening when Orson went home from the post office he did not find his father there and further learned that the customers had not received their milk deliveries. Orson went out to the dairy and discovered the father lying dead, having fallen off the milking stool and the milk bucket lying near. The old family dog sat by the body keeping vigil over the dead body of his master. The funeral services were had at the Baptist church Sunday at 2:30 p. m. and interment had in Grace Hill cemetery.
Deceased was a widower and besides the son there are two daughters who live in California and a sister left to mourn his death. She lives in Tulsa and was here attending the funeral.
