The graveside service for Ruby Iolene Homan, 89, will be 10 a.m. today, March
31, 2009, in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Arrangements are by Abernathy-Aaron
Funeral Home, Crescent.
She was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Chelsea to James M. and Annie Mae Primm Melton
and died Saturday, March 28, 2009, in Enid.
She was raised and educated in Ozark, Ark., graduating high school in 1938. She
moved to Illinois, where she worked as a waitress.
She married Lee Homan in 1940 in Illinois. After several moves, they settled in
New Mexico. Following his retirement, she returned to school at age 55 to become
an LPN. She then worked at Children's Hospital, Clarksville, Ark., caring for
special needs children. In 1997, they moved to Marshall.
Surviving are one daughter, Donna Spillman of Marshall; one brother, Edward Lee
Homan of Marshall; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, three brothers, one sister and
two grandchildren.
