Myron William Grant, 91, formerly of Morrison, Oklahoma passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
     
Myron was born November 21, 1919 in Newton, Kansas. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater where he received a Purple Heart. He was always a very loyal U. S. Citizen. On August 21, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruth Francis Baumgartner in Dewey, Oklahoma. Myron and Ruth lived in Morrison, OK where he farmed and worked at Ditch Witch until retiring. In later life, they moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas to be near family.
     
Myron enjoyed vegetable gardening, building fences, grafting pecan trees and senior citizen dances. Myron was a hard worker, always devoted to whatever he was doing. He will be remembered for his happy, smiling, positive attitude in life. He enjoyed children and was always willing to help the young people in their activities such as 4-H and FFA. Most importantly, he took such excellent care of his wife, Ruth in their last years together. He was a member of the American Legion and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) both in Morrison, OK.
     
Survivors include one son, Eric and his wife Charlotte, Jonesboro, Arkansas; granddaughter, Samantha Grant, Newport, Arkansas; great-grandsons Grant and Tristan Taylor, Newport, AR; step-grandsons, Shannon Roberson (Jessica), Jonesboro, AR and Shaun Roberson (Carey), Little Rock, AR; step-great grandchildren, Aidan Roberson, Jordan and Dylan Ferrell of Jonesboro and Coen and Cali Roberson of Little Rock, AR; one brother, Murray Grant of Tuscan, AZ, one sister, Lorene Hardy of Liberal, MO and several nieces and nephews.
     
Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Josephine Herbert Grant; his wife Ruth of 63 years (September 27, 2009); a son, Dallas Grant; four brothers Kenneth of Shawnee, Ivan of Red Rock, Raymond of Fairfax, and Paul of Perry; five sisters, Catherine Dormire of Morrison, Roberta “Birdie” Whitlow of Morrison, Jennie Moore of Lamont, Billye Younger of Blackwell and Joann Keesler of Lamont, OK.
     
Visitation will be at the Perry Funeral Home in Perry, OK Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 12-1 pm. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Nephews Robert Grant and Gregory Hardy will officiate.
     
The family suggests memorials be given to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice 400 East Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401 or may be left at the Perry Funeral Home.
