SHIRLEY JAMES GOODWIN 
Enid News and Eagle November 8, 2006 

A memorial service for Shirley James Goodwin, 85, of Perry, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Kaw Street Chapel, Perry. The Rev. Greg Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Arrangements are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry.

He was born March 4, 1921, in Vale, Ore., to Leonard Lawson and Essie Wilson Goodwin and died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at his home.

He moved to Perry with his family from Vale at age 6.

He served in the Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force from Dec. 9, 1941, to Sept. 12, 1945.

He married Mary Mildred Chenoweth Aug. 14, 1945, in Tulsa. He worked 20 years as an operator for Lloyd Jones and 16 years as a machinist for Charles Machine Works. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; one son, Wiley Joe Goodwin of Perry; two daughters, Shirley Marie Valdez and Sally Ann Hopkins, both of Perry; two brothers, Wally Goodwin of Denham, N.M., and Glenn Goodwin of Claremore; six granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son and two sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home, 1010 N. 7th St., Perry, OK 73077 to Old Soldiers Nursing Home.
