ENID — Funeral service for Winfred Walton Chapman, 93, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Enid First Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Jarrod Cloud and Rev. B.J. Barrick officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be 3-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Winfred was born to Jesse Joseph and Elizabeth Etta (Stone) Chapman on Sept. 12, 1918, in Webbers Falls, Okla., and passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in Enid.
Winfred married Pauline Landsaw Sept. 12, 1936, in Hominy. They made their home in Hominy.
He worked 35 years as a butcher in Perry, Hominy, Cleveland and Fresno, Calif. Winfred later worked 15 years as a machinist at Ditch Witch in Perry.
He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, hunting squirrels and rabbits. Winfred loved to play cards and dominos with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Enid First Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Ray Chapman; daughter, Betty Parks; four brothers, Ed, Otis, Cliff and Bill; and two sisters, Sylvia and Marie.
Winfred is survived by his wife, Pauline of the home; daughter-in-law, Patsy Chapman of Enid; four grandchildren, Deana and Ray Lamle, Greg and Lisa Chapman, all of Enid, Jim and Teri Parks of Seiling, and Gene Parks of Ft. Worth; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Gonsalves of Fresno, Calif.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to National Emphysema Foundation or Enid First Assembly of God Church.
