He was born to James Robert and Ethel (McCurter) Campbell
on November 7, 1917, in Malden, Missouri, and passed away on Saturday,
June 18, 2005, in Enid.
Jack grew up in Malden, MO, attending school there. In
January 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp and served three
years and one month during World War II. He was in the European Theater
Operations and received two Bronze Stars and Good Conduct Medal. He was
honorably discharged in October, 1945. On July 13, 1946, he married
Hazel Iona Talkington in Kennett, MO. He worked nine years at Malden Air
Base in Missouri as a security desk sergeant. In September 1960 he moved
to Enid and was employed by Serv-Air at Vance Air Force Base and later
as an aircraft mechanic with Northrop, retiring in March 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hazel of the
home; one daughter, Donna Bunch of Enid; one sister Opal Grimes of
Baxter, TN; one brother Bill Campbell of Brandon, Miss.; five
grandchildren, Ray Scott of Enid, Dalton Bunch and wife Maureen of
Owasso, Dustin Bunch of Dallas, TX, Blake Scott of Casselberry, FA,
Janice Scott Harrell and husband Sterling of Fern Park, FA; and three
great-grandchildren; extended family Ben and Vivian Bunch of Enid, Pam
Murray of Enid, and John Scott of Choctaw; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline
Scott, and son-in-law, Donald Bunch.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Search
Program of Edmond or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation-Heart
