Lynda Faye Brown was born on Jan 30, 1948 in Wewoka, OK to Earl and Lois Smith Brown. She was Stillwater, but spent her high school years in Abilene, TX and graduated from Cooper High School with the Class of 1966. Following her graduation, Lynda’s family relocated to Stillwater, OK where she went to work at a local café. While working as a waitress, she met James Battles Sr. and the two were married in 1966.

Lynda worked at the OK State University Food Service Dept during her younger years. She was a machinist for Mercury Marine from 1978 to 1982 before becoming a motor route carrier for the Stillwater Newspress from 1983 to 1988. She spent a short time working at Shirley Bellmon’s First Lady Collection Doll Factory in Billings in the early 1990’s. She was also employed at Sykes Enterprises in Ponca City before leaving to work various other office jobs.

Lynda was a dedicated woman who finished what she started. She attended several different colleges and vo-techs while raising her children, but one of her proudest accomplishments was graduating with a degree in business and accounting from Northern Oklahoma College with honors in 2006. She had the honor of graduating at the same time as her daughter Annette. She was a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll, Kappa Beta Delta, Phi theta Kappa, and the Secretary for her Phi Beta Lambda chapter.

Lynda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a member of Perry Assembly of God for over 15 years where she served as Women’s Ministries Leader and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed visiting Perry Green Valley Nursing Home to sing to the residents. Lynda loved doing craft projects and specialized in crochet, macramé, gardening, arranging flowers, interior decorating, and cake decorating. Family was her top priority and nothing made her happier than spending time with her kids and grandkids. Lynda was a faithful wife, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, and a dedicated Christian who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Barbara Adams.

She is survived by her husband James Lee Battles Sr. Three children: James Battles Jr. and wife Lori, of Perry, OK, Michele Boatman and husband Daniel, of Sand Springs, OK, and Annette Schovanec and husband Joey, of Perry, OK.
