Pearl Lucille Shelton, age 72, passed away Tuesday, May 10,
2011 at the Green Valley Nursing Home, Perry, Oklahoma. She was born May 14,
1938 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Her parents were Harve and Lula (Joy) Brown.
On November 25, 1957 she was united in marriage to Otis “Duke” Murl Shelton in
Perry, OK. Duke and Pearl were proud of the fact they were married over 50
years. He passed away September 21, 2009.
Pearl was a homemaker. She cleaned new houses for the lumber yard, later she
worked as a sales clerk for Sorrell Lumber Yard from 1980-1992. Following her
clerk position, she washed dishes at Sooner’s Corner until she retired.
Her favorite pastimes were watching her grandsons play in their sports
activities, working on jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles. She loved her country
music.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Shelton and Debbie Yenor and husband
Bobby all of Perry, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruby Harlow, Stillwater, OK; two
grandsons, Brad and Brian Yenor, her pet Chihuahua dog, Cocoa and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, “Duke”, a twin sister, Meryle
Barnes, and two brothers, Lewis and Richard Day.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at First Christian Church,
Perry, Oklahoma with Martin Foster officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May
13 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Perry Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grace
Hill Cemetery, Perry, OK.
