Abbie Baird Johnson, age 96, of Perry, Oklahoma, passed away August 15, 2022.

Abbie was born May 31, 1926 in Woodward, Oklahoma. She was the only child of Albert Guy Baird and Audrey Park Baird. In 1929, Abbie's family moved to Everett, Washington where she attended school through the first three grades. In 1934, her parents moved to Waynoka, Oklahoma to open Baird Automotive Supply. She worked in the business until graduating from Waynoka High School in 1944. During WWII, Abbie went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a telegraph and teletype operator. She attended Oklahoma A & M, finishing accounting and business management certificates. Abbie married Ludwig W. (Bud) Johnson in 1949 and moved to the Johnson family land near Sumner, Oklahoma. In 1963, they moved to Perry, Oklahoma where they maintained a residence and supervised the farm. Bud was with the Farm Home Administration and had many different assignments. He was assigned to Washington D.C. under Henry Bellmon for 12 years. In 1988, they returned to Oklahoma and made their home in Oklahoma City. Abbie worked a few years for Social Security. Abbie was active in the Presbyterian Church in Perry, a member of the PEO Ladies Tuesday Afternoon Club for over 40 years, volunteered at Perry Memorial Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia, and also volunteered as a docent at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Abbie is survived by her son, Jeffrey and his wife Leslie; two grandsons, Jacob and Jordan of Oklahoma City; and one cousin, Lee Aurther Wood of Austin, Texas.

Abbie is preceded in death by her husband, Bud and her parents.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10am on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church in Perry with Reverend Ron Fike officiating.

Abbie will be laid to rest at Grace Hill Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Trout Funeral Home of Perry from 1pm to 8pm. The family will greet friends and family from 2pm to 4pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N 7th St, Perry, OK 73077.
