Doug was born on April 3, 1951 in Madison, Wisconsin to James F. and Lavaun (McGill) Hentges, Jr. In 1952 the family moved to Gainesville, Florida, where he spent his younger life. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1969. He worked for Florida Pest Control and Chemical Co., in many different capacities until 1978. He made the decision to move to Perry, Ok in 1978 with his young son Eric, since he had spent much of the summer years of his youth here with his grandparents and had always thought it a great place to be. This was a decision that turned out to be very true. He was employed by Charles Machine Work in 1978 and retired in 2011. He worked in several different capacities throughout his 34 year career there and made many different friends and always enjoyed his decision to be there. Doug met his wife to be Shirley Jean Henn in 1981 and they were married on July 11, 1986. They started a great life and family together. Doug and Shirley raised his son, built an Angus cattle ranch northwest of Perry; they traveled extensively, which included many hunting and fishing trips. Doug also raised and trained English setter birddogs. He said he lived an ideal life with Shirley for 38 years, his wife, his best friend and partner for life.

Pallbearers will be Terry Harmon, Jack Branson, Curtis Calhoon, Adam Valencia, Heath Hentges and Harvey Hentges.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents James F. and Lavaun (McGill) Hentges, Jr. and grandparents James F. and Edna Hentges, Sr. and Horace and Fynes McGill.
