Edwin Ora Chase was born August 8, 1936, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the son of Chester G. and Velma L. (Schwab) Chase. He passed away on December 6, 2024, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, following a brief illness. 
 

After graduating from Perry High School, Eddie joined the US Navy and was stationed at Patuxent River Naval Base in Potomac, Maryland. July 31, 1964, he married the former Peggy Sue Sumler, originally from West Virginia. He is the father of one son, Eddie Glenn Chase. 

 
After his discharge from the military, he began working for PEPCO Power Company in Washington, DC, retiring December 15, 1991, with 31 years of service. 

He then moved to Perry where they rented houses and had some cattle to keep busy, He worked at Perry Golf and Country Club where he was an advocate golfer that he loved for 16 years. He was a bus driver for Perry Vo-tech for a brief time. He also loved being a Rock Township volunteer fireman for give years. He and his wife delivered meals for Perry Wheatheart Nutrition Center. He was also an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Perry.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Edith (Babe) Graham and her husband Doug, Ethel (June) Guffey and her husband Vernon; and a brother, Gene Chase.


He will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Gene Chase, Tony Chase, Ricky Graham, Tammy Guffey, Velva Chase, Gina Chase, David Graham and wife Donna, Jim Graham, Tim Guffey, Debbie Terrel and Allen Chae.
 

He was greatly loved by everyone who knew him.

 
His celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Perry. Rev. Shem Durham will officiate.

A private burial will be held at Grace Hill Cemetery.
