Jerry Lee Sparks, age 79, of Billings, Oklahoma, passed
away on August 29, 2018.
He was born on August 21, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to
Jard and Elizabeth Sparks. In 1941, he moved to his
Granddad Clark's homestead northwest of Billings and was
very proud to still own this farm at the time of his
death. Jerry attended Oklahoma State University
receiving a bachelor's degree in agriculture economics
in 1962. He served six years in the military reserves.
From 1963 to 1968, Jerry worked for
Prudential Insurance Co. in Oklahoma City as a regional
appraiser in the mortgage loan department. On August 10,
1963 he married Karen Gerken, whom he shared 33 great
years with. They moved back to Billings to farm in May
1968 and he continued to do so for the next 50 years.
Survivors include his son, Lee Sparks of Frisco, Texas,
daughter, Carrie Boyer and her husband Greg of Billings
and grandchildren Courtney Sparks, Ryan Sparks, Audra
Boyer and Avery Boyer.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Karen
and his sister, Jean Manley.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on
Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Billings Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your
choice, in care of Trout Funeral Home, 1408 N. 7th St.,
Perry, OK 73077.
