The funeral for Donald E. Pierce, 80, of Billings, will be 10 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Billings Community Center, followed by a funeral
feast. Sybol Day will officiate. Burial will be 3 p.m. in Union Cemetery,
Billings. Arrangements are by Dugger Funeral Home, Billings.
He was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Billings to Millard and Minnie Novotny
Pierce and died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at his home.
He was a 1947 graduate of Billings High School. He studied animal
husbandry for three years at Oklahoma State University. He served in the Air
Force from 1949 to 1951. After two years of active duty, he served eight
years in the Air Force Reserves. He played semi-pro baseball in Oklahoma and
joined KOM pro league, where he was a catcher for
10 years.
He married Emily Lou Twoguns Jan. 10, 1959. She died Sept. 10, 1999.
In 1969, he moved to Perry, where he was owner-operator of Standard Oil
Service Station on Interstate 35. In 1980, he retuned to the family farm
near Billings and farmed there until his death.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Pierce, Frank Pierce and Aaron Pierce,
all of Billings; one stepdaughter, Dollee; five grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Emily, he was preceded in death by two sons and
one daughter.

emphysema research.
