Girtie Maner was born in Austin, TX. on May 26, 1942. She and her twin, Bertie, were born 3 months premature at birth. They shared a life-time of treasured bonding. By the time the twins were close to 7 years old, their parents moved the family to Locust Grove, OK. Gertie attended school there through the eighth grade. At age 16, the family settled down in Enid, OK. Girtie enjoyed dolls and sewing doll clothing. She was an avid reader. She had numerous notebooks of hand-written memos from Sunday school quarterlies and bible studies, she so intensely reviewed. After Girtie’s family moved to Enid, they began attending church at Apostolic Faith and faithfully attended Spaulding Gardens (which was later named Calvary Assembly of God) for several years. Gertie then became an active member of Enid Evangel Assembly of God. It was there she soon grew to love and respect Pastor Lester Lowry, who will preside over her memorial service. Girtie was a resident of The Commons, Methodist Home at the time of her promotion to Heaven. It was “Home” to Gertie and she had been lovingly cared for there every day. The staff had her spoiled rotten. She felt safe and sincerely loved. The family could not have asked for more during that time of her life.
Girtie is survived by her twin sister, Bertie Moore, and her husband Jerry Moore as well as a sister, Louise Estes.
Gertie was preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers and 1 sister. She was born to Bertha (Dill) Maner and Alfred Maner. Her deceased siblings are Burgess, Grant, Herschel, G.P., Luther, C.W., Russell, Jessie, Jimmy, and Virginia.
Girtie will lie in rest next to her brother, Luther, and his wife in the Billing’s Cemetery.
The family of Gertie would like to thank each one who brought joy and comfort into their Precious Girtie’s life.
