Dr. Georgia Rae Prentice Carrington left this world to meet her Lord on January 2, 2019. She passed away in her home of medical complications.

Georgia was born on June 21, 1940 and was the first born child of Harold and Arlene Prentice of Enid, OK. The family moved to Oklahoma City, where she attended Harding High School and was a very musically gifted student on the drum and clarinet. She later graduated from Central State College with honors and went on to become a respected medical doctor after graduating from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1969. Georgia became an accomplished Pediatric Neurologist and while in Oklahoma worked at her private practice, University Hospital, and Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. She also served four years in the Navy as an officer working in Communications.
She then met George Carrington of Dana Point, California. They married and she moved her private practice to California where she also worked out of many hospitals and clinics. She later retired at the age of 72, but missed her profession and patients very much.

Georgia was a talented percussionist and won many drum contests during her lifetime. She is the founder of Prentice Practice Pads, which is named after her father. She was an adventurous world traveler and liked to go sailing, skydiving, river rafting, and even loved hang gliding at age 70.

She left this world loved and admired by many. To name a few...Colin Hilborne of Dana Point, CA who was her companion of 14 years and his family; her adopted son Thomas Carrington of California; her sister Paula Sheline of Edmond, OK; and Michael and Jennifer Sheline of Edmond, OK and their children Derek and Brooke.

The family would like to thank all the friends who helped Colin take care of Georgia the last few years. We will all miss Georgia’s smile, laugh, and love of life. “If you want to fly, jump out of the plane.”

Services for Dr. Georgia Prentice Carrington will be held at Vondel Smith Mortuary North (13125 N. MacArthur) in Oklahoma City on Saturday, January 12th at 10AM.
