J. D. "Slouch" Rogers
May 5, 1936 ~ December 14, 2016

J.D. Rogers (Slouch), 80, a longtime Muskogee resident was born May 5,1936, in Hulbert, OK to Jim D. and Etta Irene (Moats) Rogers and entered Heaven's gates on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in Tulsa, OK.

J.D. loved horses and was a horse trader by trade. His favorite saying about his horses was, "The Best One I Ever Owned". He retired from Muskogee County as a heavy equipment operator.

J.D. met and married the love of his life, Roberta Cunningham on November 3, 1956. Together they shared 60 years of marriage.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Etta Rogers; sisters; Martha Morrison and Della Lane, brothers; Roy and Johnny Rogers.

Those left to cherish J.D's memory are his wife, Roberta of the home; his children, Danny Rogers of Muskogee, OK, Tina Dobson, of Fort Gibson, OK, Cindi Moydell of Fort Gibson, OK, Michele Mackey and her husband Wesley of Muskogee, grandchildren; Billy Haworth, Melodi McCarver, Marcus Haworth, Zack Moydell, Terra Mackey, Jordan Mackey and Dakota Edwards; great-grandchildren, Justin Haworth, Jessi Haworth, Emilia McCarver, Levi McCarver, Rigley Mackey; sister, Sharon Vandiver and her husband Tom; brother, Bill Rogers; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with the family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM.

A celebration of J.D's life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs, OK with Pastor Rob Pierce and Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Danny Ray Yochum, Mitchell Dorning, Jackie Todd, Marcus Haworth, Billy Haworth, Justin Haworth, Jordan Mackey, Zack Moydell and Dakota Edwards serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Payton, Tommy Hix, Brian Hix, Keith Hood, Clifford Cowden, Don Moore, Eldon Blackwell, Larry Holder and Gene Wallace.

The family of JD Rogers has entrusted his services and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1224 E Poplar Fort Gibson, OK 918-478-2555.
