Hoy Gene Parson, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 11, 2020. He was born October 15, 1941 in Gore, Oklahoma to Cisero and Perletty (Gilstrap) Parson.

Hoy attended public schools and furthered his education at Bacone College where he received an associate's degree. He then attended Northeastern State University obtaining a double major in math and history and a master's degree in administration.

Hoy married the love of his life and best friend, Genevieve Hunter, in 1962. Together they shared many years of life, marriage, and memories.

He began his teaching career in Dustin, Oklahoma and then he went to Webbers Falls and taught there for 34 years. He taught many subjects and also coached basketball, football, and track. Hoy made a huge impact on many of his student's lives; both on and off the field and in and out of the classroom. He will always be remembered for his stories and advice about the lessons he learned throughout his life. Hoy will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cisero and Perletty; brothers Cisero David and John Anderson.

Hoy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Genevieve; sister Janie Vowell and husband Pat, sons Chuck Parson and wife Brenda, Rick Parson and wife DeVonna, and Danny Parson and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Trena Valdez and husband Daniel, Brad Morris, Cory Carter and wife Tiffany, Jessica Parson, Nicholas Parson and wife Amanda, Katie Munsell and husband Chetan, Hunter Parson, and Kali Parson; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandbaby due in September; along with many other family members and friends.

Funeral services celebrating Hoy's life will be 10AM, Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Timothy Baptist Church with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating.

Interment will follow at South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs. Pallbearers will be Cory Carter, Hunter Parson, Nicholas Parson, Chetan Munsell, Floyd Brown, and Brandon Ballard. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Dale Hunter, Bill Hunter, Brad Morris, and his "Knapping Group".

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York St, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
