Russell Gilbert "Russ" Hayes, 92, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born on June 22, 1928 to Floyd Hayes and Bertha (Riggs) Hayes in Braggs, Oklahoma. Russ married the love of his life, Norma Mae Humphreys, on December 23, 1949 in San Jose, California. They shared over 71 years of life, marriage, family and many memories together.
Russ worked as a batch man at a concrete plant in San Jose, California until his retirement on April 1, 1995. Russ was a member of Muskogee First Baptist Church. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. Russ will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Bertha Hayes; his siblings, Dalton Hayes, Maxine Pipkins and Evelyn Crow; and his granddaughter, Shawna Janes.
Russ is survived by his loving wife, Norma of the home; his children, Pam Lenore Janes and husband Craig of Arroyo Grande, CA, Kathleen Marie Keegan and husband Edward of Phoenix, AZ, Gilbert Leon Hayes and wife Cheryl of Paso Robles, CA, and Laura Ann Baumgardner and husband Gary; grandchildren, Cary Christopherson, Travis Hayes, Tanner Hayes, Tucker Hayes, Matthew Baumgardner, and Andrew Baumgardner; great-grandchildren, Blade Kerns, Taelor McEwan, Camron Christopherson, Christopher Christopherson, Carter Christopherson, Carly Christopherson, Natalie Baumgardner, Addy Hayes, Logan Hayes and Brody Gallegos; and many other family members and friends.
His family will greet friends 6PM-8PM, Monday, June 14, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Russ' life will be 2PM, Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Echols officiating. Interment will follow at South Bethel Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home & Crematory at 1830 N York St Muskogee, OK 74403. Condolences can be made at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
