Bartlesville - Betty Joan Conner passed away on August 31st, 2021, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty Joan Conner, was born on December 8th, 1941, in Dumas, Arkansas to Archie and Doris Scott. She was one of eight children. Betty married the love of her life, Coleman Conner, on August 19th, 1959. Coleman and Betty were married for 55 treasured years. They had 6 beautiful children, Carl (Denise) Conner of Nampa, Idaho; Susan (Dan) Landers, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Curtis (Karen) Conner, of Center Ridge, Arkansas; Clint (Teresa) Conner, of Humble, Texas; Belinda (Joe) Dunlap, of Wimberly, Texas; And, Clifton (Katie Stevens) Conner, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and College Station, Texas. Betty took such pride and joy in all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Betty had 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and highly esteemed by her family and will be cherished forevermore.
Betty attended and graduated from business college, and with Coleman, ran businesses throughout their marriage, while raising their children. But, Betty's and Coleman's greatest accomplishments and joys in life were their family and friends. Betty was a woman who cared for all. The saying, love God and love others, was her life's purpose. Everyone who knew Betty became a better person and was inspired to love and serve others. She often would spend her days serving with her husband at food pantries, helping needy families, shut-in elderly people, and sharing the love of God to everyone around them. She always went the extra mile to love. She always went the extra mile to serve. She always saw the need, even if it was unspoken, and filled it, to overflowing. When Betty would walk in a room, the room would fill with such love, grace and dignity. She never let others feel unworthy. Rather, she would lift them up, and challenge them to be better and do better in such loving ways that would spur a person to bring change. She was a mover and a shaker in the most graceful ways. If something needed to be done, but there seemed to be no way, Betty Joan would bring it before the Lord in prayer and find a way. Everything she did was done in and through Love. God is love. Jesus was her everything. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ shined in everything she did. John 3:30 said, "He must become greater, and I must become less." She wanted nothing more than to shine and share God's love with every single person she encountered. And, she did just that. If anyone needed prayer, we knew to call up Betty. If anyone needed a shoulder or listening ear, Betty was there. Then, she challenged others to live their life in service to the Lord, loving and serving others.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Coleman; granddaughter, Jennifer Beaver; and great-granddaughter, Natalie Peterson.
Family and friends wishing to honor Betty are asked to make a donation or volunteer at a local charity of their choosing, and make a difference in someone's life.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Middleton Cemetery.
