The amazing Ruby Gerldine Hutching Montgomery, 93, passed away with family by her side at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee, OK on Saturday, February 23, 2019. She was born on January 31, 1926 in Cherokee County, Oklahoma to Fred and Josie Hutching. She was one of 10 children.
She married Cecil Victor Young on April 20, 1942 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and together they had a baby girl named Cecil Virginia Young.
On August 5, 1946, she married Willie Elmer Montgomery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and they remained together for 63 years until his passing in 2009.
She had a long career as a beautician and loved spending many hours in her garden and reading a variety of books. She was known for her love of animals from cows to stray cats and everything in between.
Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Willie Montgomery; her only child, Cecil Virginia Boyd; her parents; eight siblings; one great granddaughter, Chasity Marie and her beloved feline companion, Fragile.
She is survived by her baby sister, Wanda Hinds of Muskogee, OK; two granddaughters, Gaye Lynn Dampf of Amarillo, TX and Kimberley Dian Dean of El Paso, TX; six great grandchildren, April, Meggan, Steven, Krystle, Brittney and Paige as well as nine great great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at Foster-Petering Funeral Home, 904 W. Okmulgee, Muskogee,
OK 74401 on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 12-7 pm with the family receiving friends
between 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at
Fosters' Ivory Chapel. Burial will take place Monday, March 4, 2019 at Memorial
Park Cemetery at 10:00 am.
Funeral service arrangements are under the
direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
