Elmer Junior Montgomery 89, of Muskogee passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Muskogee.
Elmer was born February 5, 1924 in Oktaha, OK, the son of Elmer M. and Audy (Talley) Montgomery. He graduated from Wainwright High School in 1940 and attended Connors State College before joining the US Army Air Corp at the beginning of WWII. After the war he continued his education at OSU in Stillwater and graduated with a BS in 1947. Elmer earned a Masters of Teaching degree from Northeastern State at Tahlaquah. He taught school at Alice Robertson in Muskogee for several years before joining his father in the Montgomery Trucking Business. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, going to sporting events, and was a huge OSU fan and supporter.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Nicholas Montgomery and is survived by a daughter; Brenda Taylor and Steve of OKC; son, Bruce Montgomery and Kathy of Muskogee; four grandchildren, Aaron Taylor and Allison of OKC, Andrea Taylor Corbishley and Arsenios of OKC, Sarah Kowaleski and Jeff of Muskogee and Eric Montgomery and Kerri of Choctaw; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eulala Hill and Marian Bowman both of Muskogee; special friend Kathryn Jarrard of Checotah; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013 in the Bradley
Belltower Chapel with Rev. Phil Taylor and Steve Taylor officiating. Interment
will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee. Arrangements are entrusted to
