Lue Wentz "Scotty" Cox

July 9, 1934 ~ December 3, 2020

Lue Wentz (Scotty) Cox was born July 9, 1934 in Webbers Falls, OK the youngest of 12 children born to Andy and Lucy (Smith) Cox. He passed from this life on Thursday December 3, 2020 at his home He was 86.

Lue grew up in Webbers Falls and attended school there. He went on to attend OSU and Southeastern University. At a young age he developed a passion for sports, mainly baseball and basketball. He played basketball while at Southeastern.

He was married to Doris Lale with whom he had three children. He later married Norma Glover. She preceded him in death in 2013.

Scotty worked for Griffin Foods for 35 years working as a personnel manager and later front office manager. After leaving Griffin he owned and operated The Mail Chute in Edmond for several years. He enjoyed playing golf and loved boxing. At one time he was in the running for the Oklahoma Boxing Commissioner.

Surviving are his children, Veronica DeFries of Braggs, OK, Chris Palmer and husband Jimmy of Yukon, OK and Sam Cox of Muskogee; one step son James Taylor and wife Valarie of Oktaha; one sister Jewell Hall and husband Sherman of Wagoner; one brother Ceaser Cox and wife Juanita of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren Ryan Morgan and wife Misty, Kevin Walker, Kristen Andrews, Kimbra Jacobson, Faith Daniels and husband Gus and Jesse Hill and husband Levi and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma, brothers Frank Cox, Euel Cox, Carol Cox, Carl Cox, Edward Cox, August Cox, Hershel Cox, Loren Cox and Larry Cox.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at South Ridge Baptist Church in Fort Gibson with Rev. Chris Dover officiating.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee under the care and direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home. Viewing will be Monday from 10 am to 8 pm at the funeral home.

Norma Jean (Glover) Cox
October 31, 1938 - June 30, 2013

Funeral services for Norma Jean (Glover) Cox, 74, of Muskogee, OK, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Steven Alexander and Reverend Wendell Cox. officiating.

Pallbearers will be Joel Taylor, Reverend James Taylor, Sam Cox, Matt Defries, Ryan Morgan, and Gus Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be A. B. Clark, Tom Tinnin, Elwood Smith, Mark Dees, and Jimmy Palmer.

Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.

Norma was born October 31, 1938 at Claremore, OK, the daughter of Millard and Mae (Davis) Glover and died Sunday, June 30, 2013 in Muskogee.

Norma was a 1956 graduate of Claremore High School. On September 14, 1977 she married Lue Cox in Muskogee. Norma was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she played the piano/keyboard for services. She was an accomplished piano player and was inspired by her sister, Nell, and her mother, Mae Glover, to play the piano. She began playing at the Saqeeyah Baptist Church at the age of 12. Prior to retirement, Norma was an executive secretary for Griffin Food and James C. Leake Industries.

Survivors include her husband, Lue Wentz “Scotty” Cox of the home; children, Joel Wayne Taylor and Robin of Claremore, Reverend James M. Taylor and Valarie of Oktaha, Veronica and Matt Defries of Braggs, Chris and Jimmy Palmer of Yukon, Kim S. Cox and Jeanne of Muskogee; two brothers, Richard Glover of Fort Worth, Reverend John Glover and Mary of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Jo Dees of Claremore, Nell Serino and Durward of Claremore; grandchildren, Matthew Crowley, Faith and Gus Daniels, Jessie Taylor, Ryan and Misty Morgan, Kimbra Jacobson, Christian Walker, and Kevie Walker; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Louise Dees and husband, Gary W. Taylor. Survivors include her husband, Lue Wentz “Scotty” Cox of the home; children, Joel Wayne Taylor and Robin of Claremore, Reverend James M. Taylor and Valarie of Oktaha, Veronica and Matt Defries of Braggs, Chris and Jimmy Palmer of Yukon, Kim S. Cox and Jeanne of Muskogee; two brothers, Richard Glover of Fort Worth, Reverend John Glover and Mary of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Jo Dees of Claremore, Nell Serino and Durward of Claremore; grandchildren, Matthew Crowley, Faith and Gus Daniels, Jessie Taylor, Ryan and Misty Morgan, Kimbra Jacobson, Christian Walker, and Kevie Walker; and numerous great-grandchildren.
