Ina Lee Beavers, 95, of Haskell died Saturday, January 21, 2006 in Muskogee. Ina was born on February 27, 1910 in Webbers Falls, OK to Sam and Addie (Keeter) Johnson. Ina graduated from Webbers Falls High School in 1927, and from Connors Junior College in 1932. While at Connors, she met the love of her life, Ernest Beavers, and on December 31, 1932 they were married in Wagoner. This union lasted 66 years, until his death in 1999.
She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern State University in 1935 and began her career as a teacher in Braggs. She then went to Coal Pool for a while before settling in Haskell in 1943. Devoted to her second grade students, Ina believed that every child could learn if they had the desire and were given the opportunity to do so.
In 1973, after 30 years of teaching, she and her husband, superintendent of Haskell Schools, E.W. Beavers, retired to travel and enjoy their family.
Ina was preceded in death by her parents, husband E. W., daughter Kaye Due, three brothers Carman, Code, and Forrest Johnson, and two sisters Ailya and Viola Johnson.
Surviving Ina is one brother, Tom and Ione Johnson of Warner; two granddaughters, Lori Roberts and Lisa Simms both of Haskell; two great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Central Church of Christ in Haskell with Roy Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home.
