McLain Cemetery is actually two cemeteries. Sevier cemetery was moved to the south west corner of McLain Cemetery in the 1970's for the construction of the Arkansas River Navigation System.
There are many unknown graves in this cemetery. A member of the Hildebrand family, Mary Hildebrand, wife of Stephen Hildebrand is buried here. Henry Landers, and Uncle of Gary Lester dug the grave of Dr. James Coon who died in 1918. Henry's father, Hiram Landers and mother, Callie Scales Landers rest here. Callie was a Cherokee orphan raised by the Honorable Joseph A. Scales and his wife Amanda Fowler Scales of Webbers Falls.
Information above used here with the generous permission of Gary Lester, Braggs.
