Dorothy M. (Rose) Wilkinson

September 21, 1906 ~ February 13, 2006

Dorothy M. Rose Wilkinson died on February 13, 2006 in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 99 years. She was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, on September 21, 1906, one of seven children of Joseph E. Rose and Leanora Zink Rose. The family moved to Oklahoma and she spent most of her life in Muskogee. In 1997, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she was affectionately known as "Aunt Dot" to her nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Muskogee where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Progressive Sunday School class and as a representative of the church as a visitor of sick and home-bound members. She also served as a volunteer at the Muskogee General Hospital as well as at the Veteran's Hospital.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jim Wilkinson and her siblings, Marjorie Nilsson, Edwarda Templeton and Ralph, Gene, and Joe Rose. She is survived by a brother, Carl Rose, of Ashland, Wisconsin, nephews Joe Hurd, Bill Nilsson and his wife, Virginia, and Ned Nilsson and his wife, Trudy, Jimmy Templeton, Carl Rose Jr. and Joe Martin Rose. She is also survived by nieces, Patricia Attebery and Kelly Ann Lane, a step-son, Jimmy Wilkinson and his wife, Peggy, as well as numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy preferred that those who wish to send a gift in her memory, make a donation to the First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Okmulgee, Muskogee, OK 74403 or the Billy Graham Foundation, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.

The family will greet visitors at Foster-Petering Funeral Home in Muskogee, Oklahoma between the hours of 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday February 24, 2006. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow at the First United Methodist Church in Muskogee, at 1:00 p.m.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
