ALICE R. DEC. 14, 1923 |
Our friend, Alice Ussery, 100, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Claremore. Alice was born on December 14, 1923, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to Harry and Nora (Helvey) Wingfield. She graduated from Muskogee Central in 1941 and obtained a degree in Medical Technology from Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State) in January, 1949.
On September 25, 1949, Alice married the love of her life, Beryl Ussery, who preceded her in death in 1973. That same year Alice moved to Pryor, Oklahoma, and began working for the Oklahoma State Employment Service, retiring in 1984.
Alice was a faithful servant for her Lord and her church, Pryor First United Methodist, where she sang in the Church Choir for 30 years, helped prepare the Rotary Meals for many years and traveled with her church Volunteer in Mission groups to cook for the workers. Her church was her “family” and she loved them very much.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Beryl, both parents, Sister Martha, Brothers Harry and Frosty, nephews, Rich and Mike Wingfield and niece Susan Warren. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Pryor First United Methodist Church on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Kris Mayberry will officiate. Her final resting place will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Muskogee.
In lieu of flowers Alice would request donations to her church: P.O. Box 67, Pryor, OK 74362. Online condolences may be made at www.stephens-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in care of the Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care of Pryor.
