Henry Truman Turney

Henry Truman Turney
April 24, 1938 - August 16, 2020

Henry Truman Turney, 82, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 24, 1938 to Arthur Sewell Turney and Grace Velma (Hull) Turney in Morton, Texas. Growing up he attended Whittier Public School, Alice Robertson Public School, Muskogee Central High School and graduated from Tulsa Central High School. He graduated from Bacone College with his Associate's Degree. In 1975 Henry graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Marketing. He then went on and graduated Magna Cum Laude with his MBA.

Henry worked at the Oklahoma School for the Blind and retired in 2000 after 25 years of service with the state. He was a member of Oklahoma Public Employee's Association Retiree Advisory Council. He was also a member of Muskogee First United Methodist Church where he and his wife attended for many years.

Henry and Linda celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on July 31, 2020. They shared many happy memories together that will last forever.

Henry was loved and adored by many. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his willingness to help others. He lived for his family and his granddaughters. Henry will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A special thanks to the nurses from Sooner Home Health who cared so kindly for him.

Our deepest thanks to Michael Frizzell and Codi Busby the nurses at Cornerstone Hospital in Broken Arrow. They never left his side in the very end.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Grace Turney; siblings and their spouses, Mayme and Bill Poe, Bill and Lucille Turney and Arthur and Maurine Turney; niece, Shirley Turney Nicholson; and nephew, Pete Evans.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Turney of the home; son, Dr. Jarett Turney and wife Amy of Grove, OK; daughter, Lea Meek and husband Joe of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Lindsey and Jordyn; step-grandchildren, Jarentt and Adarren; brothers, Lee Turney and wife Janice of Wagoner, OK, and Donald Turney and wife Carolyn of Genrty, AR; nieces and nephews, Bill and LaNell Turney of Niceville, FL, Nancy Turney of Stigler, OK, Mary Turney and Rick Lequie of Fair Play, SC, and Patrick and Sandra Turney of Berryhill, OK; numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews; and many friends, colleagues and acquaintances whose lives he impacted throughout his life.

The family will receive friends 5PM-7PM, Friday, August 21, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A celebration of Henry's life will be 11AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Dover officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Joe Meek, Aron Stanford, Mike Courtney, Darrell Russell, Lance Fuller and Jim Meek serving as pallbearers.
