Joyce Marlene McBrien, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017. She was born December 29, 1938 to Ralph and Constance (Oiler) Middleton in Veedersburg, Indiana. Joyce attended Bloom High School in Chicago Heights.
She was an assembler for Oklahoma Interpak for many years until her retirement in 2009. Joyce was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She loved sewing, drawing, painting and working in her garden. Joyce loved her family very much and loved watching her great-grandchildren. Some of her family's favorite recipes that she enjoyed cooking for them were her Christmas fudge, peanut butter cookies, meatballs and her pepper steak. Joyce will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Constance Middleton; and great-grandson, Lucas Xavier Wright.
Joyce is survived by her siblings, Keith Middleton of Chicago, IL, and Jean Middleton of California; children, Sherri Fox, Christine Fox, Michael Fox all of Los Osos, CA, and Shawn McBrien Adams of Muskogee, OK; granddaughters, Evonne Ellis of Seattle, WA, Amber McBrien Wright and husband Mathew of Wagoner, OK, Kerri McBrien of Muskogee, OK, and Alexis Murphy of Muskogee, OK; great-grandchildren, Liam, Amelia and Makenna Wright; and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers Joyce's family requests memorials be made to St. Joseph Catholic School at: 321 N Virginia St Muskogee, OK 74403.
A Rosary will be 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 along with a family visitation 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M. at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of Joyce's life will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Stuart Crevcoure Celebrant. Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery with Mathew Wright, Jesse Hatcher, Dennis Alcorn and Alex Truelove serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Liam Wright.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 N. York St, Muskogee, OK. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
