Virginia Evelyn Clymans, 94, of Muskogee, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2006. She was born October 11, 1911 in Muskogee to Clarence and Maud (Barrett) Clymans. Virginia was a lifelong resident of Muskogee, attending Irving and Houston Elementary Schools and graduating from Muskogee Central High School. She also attended Draughan's Business School.
She was a longtime employee of Muskogee County. She was first employed as secretary to then County Attorney James Powell and continued as his secretary when he became county judge. Later, she joined the County Treasurers office where she worked for many years. She retired at age 75.
Virginia was a devout Christian faithfully attending her Sunday school class "The Daughters of Wesley" and enjoyed her time spent in Circle #1 of United Methodist Women and services at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Preceding Virginia in death were her parents, sister-in-law, Louise Clymans, and great-niece, Susan Magruder.
She is survived by her brother, C.W. Clymans, Jr. of Muskogee; nieces, Diane Ivy and husband, Dale, of Florida and Carol Moses of Texas; nephew, Gary M. Clymans and wife, Kay, of Texas and great friend and longtime caregiver, Helen Johnson of Muskogee.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Ivy and Rev. Mary Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.
Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
