November 4, 1926 ~ January 26, 2012

Lyle Bibb, 84, lifelong Muskogee resident, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was born to William Lyle Bibb, Sr. and Mary Rellis (Pierce) Bibb on November 4, 1926 at the original Muskogee General Hospital. He grew up in Muskogee and attended Muskogee Public Schools.

Before graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served two years. After returning to Muskogee, he married Shirley Slaight and continued his education graduating from Central High School and Muskogee Junior College. Later, Lyle joined the 45th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army and served in Korea.

Upon his return to Muskogee, he began a career at O.G. & E. starting as a meter reader, then moving to engineering and retiring from the sales office. Lyle was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a proud member of the Bedouin Shrine Temple, where he served as Past Potentate. After retirement, he stayed busy as a safety program instructor through O.G. & E. and as a sports official with OSSAA. In 2007, Lyle was inducted into the OSSAA Hall of Fame for 45 years of service. Lyle was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a proud member of the Bedouin Shrine Temple, where he served as Past Potentate. After retirement, he stayed busy as a safety program instructor through O.G. & E. and as a sports official with OSSAA. In 2007, Lyle was inducted into the OSSAA Hall of Fame for 45 years of service.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; his daughters Carol Cole of Muskogee, Suellen Caywood and husband Mark of Edmond, Lisa Riley and husband Tim of Muskogee, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rusty Williams officiating. Friends may wish to remember Lyle by making memorials to the First United Methodist Church, Music Dept., 600 E. Okmulgee, Muskogee, OK 74403. July 7, 1928 - October 1, 2020

Shirley S. Bibb, 92, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020. She was born July 7, 1928 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Dorothy (Stuckslager) Slaight. She attended public schools and graduated from CHS with the class of 1946.

Shirley married the love of her life, William Lyle Bibb Jr, on June 14, 1947 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared a milestone of 64 years of marriage, life, and family memories together.

She worked as a teller at Citizens National Bank and retired after many years of service. She always enjoyed her customers and made many friendships throughout her banking career.

Shirley will always be remembered for her love of music, singing, and playing the piano. She served as choir director at Trinity United Methodist Church and later attended First United Methodist Church where she was a faithful and active member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; and one sister.

Shirley is survived by her children, Carol Cole of Muskogee, Suellen Caywood and husband Mark of Summerfield, FL, and Lisa Riley of Muskogee; grandchildren, Matthew Cole and wife Lolly, Julie Salisbury and husband Ryan, Carter Caywood and wife Stephanie, Ashley Caywood, and Morgan McWethy; great-grandchildren, Cael Cole, Waverly Cole, Ezra Salisbury, Gabriel Caywood, and Wesley Caywood; along with other family members and friends.

Shirley's request for no viewing will be honored.

A private family service will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020 with a public celebration for Shirley at a later date.

The family requests memorial to be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1145 N Main St, Muskogee; First UMC, 600 E Okmulgee, Muskogee; or Bedouin Shrine Temple Transportation Fund, 201 S 6th St W, Muskogee, OK.
