Virginia Lee Young, 75-year-old resident of Spavinaw, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Hillcrest Hospital in Claremore. She was born on September 3, 1946 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Sam Smoke and Goldie (Dreadfulwater) Smoke. Virginia attended School growing up in Strang, Oklahoma. Professionally Virginia worked as a healthcare aid in Ketchum, Oklahoma.

Her days were often spent enjoying the simple pleasures of life, such as savoring the flavors of a Chinese buffet or seeking treasures at her local Walmart. Virginia's love for the casino was one of her favorite pastimes. Above all, Virginia's greatest joy was her family.

Virginia was preceded in by her parents, Sam and Goldie (Dreadfulwater) Smoke, husband, James Edward Young, brothers, Joe Smoke, William Smoke, Sanford Smoke, Andrew Smoke, sisters Vivian “Nossy” Hair, and Pauline Meashintubby.

The surviving family includes sons, Steven and wife Bethanie Smoke of Spavinaw, Christopher and wife Jennifer Smoke of Spavinaw, brothers Johnny Smoke of Jay, Billy Smoke of Spavinaw, Ronnie and wife Brenda Smoke of Seattle, Washington, grandchildren, Niki, Steven II, Ryley and Brittanie Smoke, great-grandchildren Knox Baker, Dalana Smoke, Kaden, Syriah, and Dax Hogshooter, Jessie Smoke, with one on the way and numerous other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Stephens-Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. A graveside service will be held September 20, 2024, at Fort Gibson National cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.stephens-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in care of the Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care of Pryor. “Family owned and operated.”
