Funeral services for Era Ruth Keeler, 87, of Muskogee, OK, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at the Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Crow officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Mrs. Keeler was born January 10, 1921 at Wagoner, OK, the daughter of Hayden Ebb and Mary Speck and died January 11, 2008 at Muskogee.
On June 1, 1951 she married Leo Roland Keeler. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of American Veterans for over 16 years. For many years she sold poppies for donations. She received a plaque for top poppies sales, most poppies sold at 13 years of service.
Survivors include her children, Charles Leroy of Pocatello, Idaho, Lloyd Leon “Corkey” of Rogers, AR, Deborah Lynn Kindell and husband David of Muskogee, Brenda Kaye Wells and husband, Jim of Muskogee; one sister, Esther Sexton of Muskogee; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; two sons, Barney Dean and Richard; three brothers, Floyd, Cloman “Tater”, and Joe; and two sisters, Jewel and Macey.
