On January 9, 1968, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission 40 miles south-southeast of Ban Karai Pass near Sepone, Savannakhet Province, Laos, when his aircraft was hit by hostile fire and crashed.
His remains were not recovered.
His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu
Memorial. He has a military stone in his honor at Fort Gibson
