Rudolph Hitchye

 September 1, 1931 ~ February 17, 2006

On September 1st, 1931, a baby boy was born to Claude and Ruby (Holmes) Hitchye, in Oktaha, Oklahoma. He was blessed with the name, Rudolph.

Rudolph attended Oktaha Schools and graduated from Dubois High School, in Summit, Oklahoma. In 1952, he entered the United States Army serving his country proudly. He was honorably discharged in 1954. In 1954, he met Alice Marie Porter and in 1956, they were joined in holy matrimony, and of this loving union three children were born. Professing a love for the Lord at a young age Rudolph became a member of the church. He was a long time member of Saint Mark Baptist Church. He worked diligently as a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, Choir member and in any area or capacity he was needed and was a faithful Christian worker until his death. In addition to his church duties, he was active in the Lone Oak Masonic Lodge #155, which he joined in 1962. He served as the Worshipful Master at the time of his death.

On February 17th, 2006, Brother Rudolph left us for his heavenly journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. The family he leaves behind to cherish their precious memories of him include his wife, Alice Hitchye. Three daughters; Charlotte McCormick and Sheila Adkins (Jesse), of Oklahoma City, OK and Sherry Hitchye, of Atlanta, GA. One granddaughter, Jessica Adkins, of Oklahoma City, OK. Two sisters, Vivian Whitmore, of Los Angeles, CA and Wanda Donaldson, of Muskogee, OK. Three brothers, Felton Hitchye (Sylvia) of Tuscon, AR, Herbert Hitchye (Linda) and Glenn Hitchye (Debra), of Muskogee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The going home service for Brother Rudolph will be held on Friday February 24th, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mark Baptist Church, with Rev. Anthony Scott Sr., Pastor, officiating. He will be laid to eternal rest with Military Honors in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center. Visitation will be today from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
