Gary Gene Hake, 83, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, with his family at his side. He was born November 19, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to Lyle and Marie (Danner) Hake. He attended public schools from which he graduated. He furthered his education obtaining an associate degree.
Gary married Helen Westbrook on February 23, 1979, in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared more than 44 years of life, marriage and memories together.
He enlisted with the United State Army at the age of 17. He retired in 2002 with an honorable discharge with 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Marie Hake; brother, Leonard Hake; sons, Bret Hake and Derek Hake.
Gary is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; son, Kevin McCoy and wife Angela; daughter, Rhonda McCoy; daughter-in-law, Gail Hake, all of Muskogee; grandchildren, Brandon McCoy of Muskogee, Candise Hake of Okmulgee, Michael Hake and Gavin Hake both of Muskogee, Taylor McCoy of Los Angeles, CA, Chelsea Rowan and husband Dylan of Muskogee, Courtney Perry and husband Hayden of Fort Gibson; great-grandsons, Derek Hake and Duke Rowan both of Muskogee; and several beloved great grands, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.
Gary's life will be celebrated at 11:30AM, Monday, April 3, 2023, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Echols officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with full military honors being presented. Pallbearers will be Tommy Mann, Ron Allen, Mike Dickerson, Larry Watts, Rick Smith, and John Cowan Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Cothrum, Bill Fillman, Jimmy Holland, Keith
Rushing, and Milan Mavavich.
