Graveside services for John Forshee, 71 of Enid, will be Friday, September 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm in Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid, OK.

John was born on July 1, 1949 in Great Bend, Kansas to Lytle Edgar and Loretta Teresa Malone Forshee and died August 24, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma. He grew up in Chase, Kansas and graduated from Chase High School, a proud member of the Class of 1967. John enlisted in the USAF, stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi and Vance AFB. He retired from civil service as an Inspector at Traffic Management Office at Vance AFB. John married Jean Workman on December 30, 1986 in Enid. He loved collecting anything concerning John Wayne, Elvis and the US Presidents. John was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church at Vance AFB, later at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Enid.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean on February 4, 2015; parents.

He is survived by his children, Jon Paul (Ericka) Forshee and Mary Mclean; step children, Datha (Bill) Cottingham, Dana (Dan) Newton, Mike (Erin) Workman; grandchildren, Chance and Justin Mclean, Scott Cottingham, Katelyn (Jared) Tabor, Jennifer (Tyler) Grimes, Jeremy Newton, Nicole (Jacob) Traxler, Mikaela Workman; great grandchildren, Aurora, Clara, Jake, Wyatt and Korbyn; brothers, Ron (Pat) Forshee, Kent (Theresa) Forshee; sister, Elaine (Rod) Straub; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

August 9, 1933 ~ February 5, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial for Doris “Jean” Forshee, age 81, will be at 1:00 PM Monday, February 9, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be 5:00 PM Sunday evening at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

Jean was born to Baltus and Reba (Rhyne) Mosier on August 9, 1933, in Alvord, Texas, and passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at her home in Enid. Jean grew up in Alvord, Bowie, and Big Spring, Texas.

She married John Workman, and they had three children: Datha, Dana, and Mike. Jean worked 46 years for the USAF/Civil Service. She was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola at Vance AFB, and now a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Jean married John Forshee on December 30, 1986, in Enid. She was a member of Federal Women’s Program, and loved music, dancing, reading, bowling, shoes!!, puppies, and watching her grandchildren do anything.

Jean is survived by her husband John of the home: three children: Datha (Bill) Cottingham, of McKinney, Texas, Dana (Dan) Newton of Enid, Mike (Erin) Workman of Newcastle, OK; six grandchildren: Scott and Katelyn Cottingham, Jennifer (Tyler) Grimes, Jeremy Newton, Nicole and Mikaela Workman; two step-children, Mary (Mike) McLean and their children Chance and Justin, all of Moore, and Jon Paul Forshee of San Diego, CA.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, B.N. and Reba Mosier. Memorials may be made to Our Daily Bread.
